Mitch found his forever home.
Older dogs are amazing and so deserve to be loved and cared for in their elder…!
So happy for Mitch and his loving forever family
12-year-old Mitch is a treeing walker coonhound. He used to be a stray dog that lived at a station. When he was rescued in 2016, he looked exhausted and stressed. He was taken to the Cashiers-Highland Humane Society, a shelter in Jackson County, North Carolina. Thanks to the care and enthusiasm of the shelter staff, Mitch became a healthy and loving dog.
However, Mitch did not expect that he had to wait 7 years to be adopted because of his advanced age. People think that a shepherd dog can’t be a pet, moreover, Mitch is old, so they refuse this [po.or] dog.
Assistant shelter manager Jodi Henkel thinks all dogs deserve a chance to find a new home regardless of age or breed. Furthermore, Mitch is a great dog and is extremely patient with his wait.
Mitch’s seven-year wait has paid off. Teresa Shular, who cried watching Mitch’s video, decided to contact the shelter to adopt him immediately. Shular didn’t want the adoption to take too long as Mitch was already the shelter’s oldest resident. Shultar and her husband have planned to have Mitch stay with them as long as possible, and they will give him lots of love to make up for his 7 years of waiting.
Mitch waited for 7 years to have a warm home in the last days of his life. He never gives up and patiently waits for someone to bring him new love.
Currently, Mitch is living very happily in his new house. Mitch’s story shows us: Adopt old dogs because they’ve been waiting so long for you and they deserve your love!
