Scott Eastwood’s Surprising Chicago Fire Guest Role—And Why It Ended

Scott Eastwood, son of iconic actor and director Clint Eastwood, carved his own path in Hollywood by initially acting under the last name “Reeves” to avoid nepotism. He quickly landed roles in films like An American Crime and Pride and often appeared in his father’s films, though he still auditioned just like any other actor. Reflecting on his father’s influence, Eastwood shared with Esquire that Clint taught him the importance of punctuality, hard work, and integrity—qualities that helped him build a career independently.

In recent years, Scott Eastwood has stepped into roles in major blockbusters such as Suicide Squad and Pacific Rim: Uprising, and he played Eric Reiser, or “Little Nobody,” in The Fate of the Furious. However, one role often overlooked in his career is his brief appearance on Chicago Fire, where he starred in two key episodes that were originally planned to set him up for a role in a new spin-off.

Eastwood’s Appearance in Chicago Fire Season 1

In the final episodes of Chicago Fire Season 1, Scott Eastwood guest-starred alongside Tania Raymonde in episodes titled “Leaders Lead” and “Let Her Go.” Eastwood played Jim Barnes, a character brought in to help Chicago Fire’s Casey (Jesse Spencer) team up with the city’s intelligence unit. The episodes were not only story-driven but also served as a backdoor pilot for what would become Chicago P.D.. Initially, Eastwood and Raymonde were expected to join the spin-off series as regulars.

However, the plan took a turn. Creative differences led to Eastwood and Raymonde being cut from Chicago P.D. just before it launched. Instead, the show built its core cast around actors Jason Beghe and Jon Seda, who helped anchor Chicago P.D. through its early seasons. The spin-off went on to become successful, though Eastwood’s character was left behind.

Despite missing out on a lead role in Chicago P.D., Scott Eastwood’s career continued to flourish. He recently co-starred in the action-packed film Wrath of Man with Jason Statham and is set to appear in the romantic comedy I Want You Back in 2022. While his time in the One Chicago universe was brief, it marked yet another step in a career shaped by Eastwood’s hard work and determination.
