Sean Evans has interviewed the best of the best celebrities and now it’s all going to change Sean Evans, the host of beloved YouTube celebrity interview show Hot Ones, has revealed a heartbreaking truth now that he’s made a deal to buy his own show.
Evans, who I’m sure you’ve seen munching on spicy wings at least once or twice, co-created the YouTube show in 2015 with Chris Schonberger.
But now that he and a number of private investors signed a $82,500,000 deal to buy YouTube channel First We Feast, which runs Hot Ones, from BuzzFeed, he’s telling some home truths about his career.
Essentially, Evans built his platform on hosting interviews with celebrities at a table with plates of spicy chicken wings on it that progressively get hotter.
Then, they’d see how the celebs were able to answer the questions when battling the heat and tears.

He’s had chats with the likes of Harry Kane and Sydney Sweeney, Ryan Reynolds and Lorde.
But now that Evans and Schonberger have bought First We Feast, the entertainment company behind it, means that the pair get to branch off to new avenues.
In a statement, Schonberger said: “I’m thrilled to lead this next chapter as we continue to push boundaries and create unforgettable experiences for our audience.”
While Evans is ‘excited to continue hosting the show with hot questions, and even hotter wings for years to come’, he went on to tell People that there’s something that the show cost him.
In an interview with People, the content creator admitted that there is one major downside to his success.
He said: “When this is all done, I’m never eating another chicken wing in my life!
“You will not see me eating wings at the Super Bowl party or anything like that.”
He said: “I understand how it happens, why it happens.
“But I go to a restaurant and inevitably somebody will come up and be like, ‘This is from the kitchen’, and it’ll be their wings.”
Now the show could take a new direction (YouTube/Firstwefeast)
However, he knows that the wings gave him his career and explained: “I try not to be too hard on wings because they’ve obviously changed my life.”
Evans added: “So, I’m a little tired of eating them after all these years, but I appreciate all that the chicken wing has done for me.”
“I think part of what’s amazing about the whole journey is it comes from bootstraps — like, let’s see if we can make this fun idea work.
“We felt like we were being a little naughty in the corner room that nobody was paying attention to, and we’d make this crazy chicken wing interview show.”
Evans purchased Hot Ones from BuzzFeed for an eye-watering $82,500,000, with the hopes of creating a whole new content stream.
In a statement following the purchase, Evans claimed: “The future is spicy, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
The new investment into the company will let First We Feast ‘expand into new areas […] including new platforms, live events, and talent acquisitions.’
Whether this means that they’ll be expanding into other areas or incorporating other ideas is unknown.
But what we do know is Sean will be eating a fair few more chicken wings.Featured Image Credit: YouTube/First We Feast/Theo Wargo/Getty Images

Sydney Sweeney says she’s worried about YouTube comments after tearing up on Hot Ones
She managed to get through some punishing sauces
Sydney Sweeney appeared on YouTube show Hot Ones and was worried what the comments might say after tearing up.
If you don’t know the premise of Hot Ones, it’s a show on YouTube channel First We Feast where celebrities come in and eat a series of hot wings doused in the most scorching sauces you can imagine.

Celebs have got to maintain their composure and carry on with their interview, even while every cell in their mouth is screaming that it’s on fire.
10 chicken wings with hotter and hotter sauces must be eaten, and the final sauce is Hot Ones own The Last Dab, which has a Scoville rating of over two million.
Sydney Sweeney recently made her appearance on Hot Ones and put in one hell of an effort, not going for her drink until she’d finished the lot.

Sweeney was doing incredibly well with the hot sauces, making her way through the first seven of them without much of a problem.
However, then came the time for Hot Ones to drop ‘Da Bomb’, a sauce rated at 135,000 Scoville units and a very popular condiment on the YouTube show, onto wing number eight.
Da Bomb prides itself on being ‘one of the hottest sauces on Earth’ and it’s no surprise that Hot Ones likes to bring it out and see how their guests handle the heat.
At first Sweeney seemed to be tackling it with gusto, saying it was ‘pretty good’ before the true horror of Da Bomb made itself known.
The first sign that something was happening was when The Handmaid’s Tale star said ‘I feel tingly on my lips’ and suggested it ‘might have an after effect’, and she certainly wasn’t wrong as she was about to discover.

Sweeney said the heat was building in her mouth and wasn’t stopping, and could do little beyond saying ‘wow’ and asking Sean Evans if his tongue had gone numb.
She then asked if he was going to drink and relieve the scorching sensation in his mouth as she didn’t want to be be the first one to take a drink.
Evans tried to keep the conversation going, but all Sweeney could wonder was ‘how are you still talking’.
“God damn, people are just gonna come at me in the comments now,” she said after tearing up due to the hot sauce, though Evans reassured her people would be ‘so inspired by your bravery here’.
Indeed, the comments were full of people praising Sweeney for taking the best shots Hot Ones had to offer and making it through to the end.Featured Image Credit: YouTube / First We Feast

Ricky Gervais reveals shocking moment fan put arm round him at the urinals
He couldn’t quite believe what was happening
World-famous comedian Ricky Gervais has revealed the shocking moment a fan put his arm around him at the urinal during an interview about when it is appropriate to go up to celebrities.
Arguably the most famous comedy name in show business, Gervais shot to stardom around his 40th birthday after creating, writing and starring in The Office, which remains one of the best British sitcoms of all time.
Moving on to Extras, Life’s Too Short, Derek, and After Life – as well as sell-out world tours on the stand-up circuit – he is now reportedly worth $160 million (£126 million).

Now, sitting down with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Ian Wright, and Jill Scott for the latest episode of The Overlap podcast, Gervais explained when it is not appropriate to approach him for a selfie.
The conversation was spurred on by Manchester United legend Roy Keane explaining about when he said ‘no’ to a fan for a photo last year and the fan thinking he was ‘awful’ as a result.
“I was in America last year in this hotel meeting some lads but I was by myself,” Keane said.
“Up the top of the hotel was a pool and everyone was flexing their muscles. I’m sitting there, big guy big came over to me and said ‘any chance of a picture?’.
“I went ‘no I’m waiting for some friends, I’m not doing any pictures’ and he says ‘you know nobody around here knows you’. I said, ‘you do’. It was perfect.”

Responding, Gervais revealed one of his worst fan interactions during the Joe Calzaghe vs. Roy Jones Jr boxing match at Madison Square Garden in New York City, back in 2008.
“So I went to see Joe Calzaghe in Madison Square Garden. We had VIP, it’s me and Jane [his wife],” Gervais explained.
“There was Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito and all these people.
“But I had to use the loo, right, and they’re for everybody else too, so they’re crowded, right.”
Explaining what happened next, Gervais said: “I’m at the urinal I’ve got my d*ck in my hand. Someone said ‘can I have a selfie?’ and he just just put his arm around me and took the picture.
“Unbelievable. And I couldn’t I couldn’t say anything. There’s a lot of testosterone at boxing matches.”

It’s not the first time the topic of celebrity selfies has come up. Back in 2019, Dame Emma Thompson declined a photo with a waiter at a restaurant, saying she didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere for everyone else.
But Judge Rinder and Piers Morgan have come out in support of fans and against celebs saying ‘no’.
“It’s part of the deal for the privileges and perks that celebrity brings. Asking nicely matters of course but by doing very little, you get to improve the chemistry of somebody’s day,” Judge Rinder said.Play
“Celebrities who grumble about it might consider getting a real job.”
And Morgan posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Those ego-crazed celebrities who refuse to pose for photos should remember they’re ONLY celebrities because of the public that pays to watch them.”
Gervais is currently travelling the UK for his Mortality tour, with extra 2025 dates added this week for London.Featured Image Credit: YouTube / @theoverlap

BBC comedian shares payslip showing ‘shocking’ amount he made after putting his show on iPlayer
Charlie Higson’s followers aren’t really giving him the sympathy he’s looking for
If someone’s on the telly, you instantly assume they’re getting paid a fortune in royalties.
However, BBC comedian Charlie Higson has shown that this is not the case, at all.
The English actor, 65, was a writer and a performer in BBC Two sketch show The Fast Show, which originally ran from 1994 to 1997.
He appeared alongside the likes of Paul Whitehouse, Simon Day and Mark Williams, as they would take part in various gags and character sketches.
What made it different from a normal sketch show was the sheer number of acts in one programme.

The premiere episode featured a whopping 27 blackout sketches in 30 minutes.
Some would last 10 seconds and others would last up to three minutes.
Amid the odd special, rather than reviving the show, the cast have opted to go on tour instead.
Higson explained: “We’ve had some ideas about using the characters in another format, like the Carry On films, or even a panto, so this tour is just to test the waters.
“But it’s been 20 years since we last did anything on stage and thankfully we all still get along, probably because we’ve allowed each other to do other things outside of The Fast Show.
“Sleep with other people and the marriage stays strong.”
Now, taking to X earlier today (16 April), Higson shocked his followers after sharing a 2022 payslip – with very small commission fee.
His followers were stunned. (X/@monstroso)
He earned just £18.84 from BBC iPlayer payments and his fans were quick to offer no help whatsoever.
“I’m just learning now that it’s on iPlayer. Which is nice,” one person tweeted, as the comedian replied: “You fell for my indirect marketing.”
“Do you have to split that?! Absolutely shocking!” another penned, to which Higson responded: No no. It’s mine! ALL MINE!!!!”
Meanwhile, the dad jokes just kept coming, as a third person wrote: “Alright, we get it. No need to rub it in our faces Daddy Warbucks. Jesus.”
“What will you do with your new-found wealth?” a fourth penned, as a fifth wrote: “Think of all the treats you can buy!”
Someone did have some sympathy though, as they commented: “That’s terrible, I didn’t realise how badly they paid.
“I’ve also recently realised that buying physical media is also better for the consumer because you don’t actually own anything that you’ve subscribed to on streaming sites.”

Yung Filly reveals he retired his mum from retail work after making ‘right choice’
Filly’s mum was getting recognised in Poundland
We all have our own milestones we want to achieve. Maybe you want to earn enough money to buy yourself a new car.
Or perhaps you want to earn enough money to simply quit work all together and travel the world. But some people measure their success by what they can do for others.
And Yung Filly did exactly that, as he retired his mum from retail work.

The YouTuber appeared on last night’s (30 March) episode of The Jonathan Ross Show and spoke about when his mum recognised that he’d made the ‘right choice’ by pursuing his chosen career.
“She used to work in Poundland,” the rapper said. “And it got to the point where when she was working in Poundland, people were seeing the resemblance between me and her.”

Filly explained that she would get ‘really embarrassed’ as people started asking for pictures and realising who she was.
The ‘Grey’ rapper recalled giving her a ring and telling her to quit her job because he’s ‘got her now’.
“She didn’t know to take it. So the months went on, she’s still working and I call her again like ‘mum, I’m serious now, you ain’t got to work again’,” he said.
But his mum didn’t quite retire and totally leave the working world as he explained he then made her his ‘PA’.
As Ross was comically stunned and the audience burst into laughter, Filly said: “But it’s not like work work is it? She’s not like getting coffees and my laundry.”

The host then asked to clarify just what his mum does as the star explained: “Just checks and email and says: ‘Yo, be here at this time’. But she loves it.”
Filly added that she’s ‘buzzing, she’s absolutely buzzing’.
Last year, he spoke to Indy100 about how proud he is of his success and how happy he is to have been able to help his mum.
“My biggest achievement is helping my mum retire. It’s my mum’s world and I’m just living in it. I paid off my mum’s debt, my mum had loads of debt and I paid it off in one go. That was a sick feeling,” Filly said.
“I also took all of my family on holiday, that was sick, but everything is family-orientated… all these materialistic things ain’t s**t.
“I’m just proud of myself. And I don’t tell myself enough, I’ve smashed it.”
He definitely has, what a lad.
