Bear enthusiast Timothy Treadwell died in a bear attack in 2003
Warning: This article contains content which some readers may find distressing
Timothy Treadwell’s tragic final words before he and his girlfriend were eaten alive by a bear have been revealed.
The bear enthusiast, originally from New York, was best known for documenting his life amongst them in Alaska’s Katmai National Park.
His obsession with the grizzly mammals started at a young age, when he would head to Alaska on camping trips with his family.

He would often play with and even touch the bears while out there, years later making the decision to live with them every summer.
Whilst he was repeatedly warned of the dangers, it didn’t stop his annual visit up until his death in 2003.
Just hours before he and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were due to fly back home via seaplane, the couple were mauled to death by a bear.
The ‘Grizzly Man’ managed to record the brutal attack, and as the couple didn’t have time to remove the lens, there was six long minutes of chilling audio captured, documenting their deaths.

The audio begins with Amie asking if the bear is still out there, before Timothy screams: “Get out here! I’m getting killed out here!”
The tent zipper can be heard as Amie rushes out, shouting for her boyfriend to ‘play dead’.
There’s a whole lot of screaming and shouting as it seems the bear releases Timothy from its grip and Amie heads over to help. But as soon as she does that, the animal apparently clamps its jaws around his head again and he starts to scream for his partner to ‘hit the bear’.
Amie tells him to ‘fight back’ as she attacks it with a frying pan. Following a series of screams, the tape then runs out, capturing the couple’s final moments.

Willy Fulton – who was their air taxi pilot for the flight home – knew immediately what had happened when he landed at Katmai National Park.
Typically, he would find them waiting at the shore to be picked up, but instead there was an eerie silence and the ‘meanest looking bear’ standing on top of a pile of human remains.
The tent was found collapsed and torn alongside their unopened evening snack. A ranger spotted fingers and an arm in a 3ft-high mound of grass, mud and twigs, alongside some other remains. Nearby, what was left of Timothy’s head was found.
In the following years, a documentary about their death was made by Werner Herzog: Grizzly Man.

Man who was swallowed alive by whale spoke out afterwards as simulation shows terrifying reality
A horrifying simulation shows what it would be like to be swallowed alive by a whale
A man who spent the longest minute of his life inside the mouth of a whale has lived to tell the tale.
In 2021, veteran fisherman Michael Packard was off the coast of Massachusetts, US, in search for some lobsters.
While he was just a few metres from the sea floor, he was suddenly swallowed up by a humpback whale and everything went dark.

“All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black,” he recalled to The Cape Cod Times.
“I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth.”
After realising that the whale had actually swallowed him, he said: “And then I realised: ‘Oh my God, I’m in a whale’s mouth and he’s trying to swallow me. This is it, I’m going die’.
“I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way I’m getting out of here. I’m done, I’m dead.’ All I could think of was my boys — they’re 12 and 15 years old.”
Michael thought his best chance of survival would be to move around as much as possible, hoping it would let him go.
Packard said he could feel the muscles in the whale’s mouth moving (YouTube/Zack D. Films)
Thankfully it did.
“I saw light, and he started throwing his head side to side, and the next thing I knew I was outside (in the water),” he said.
Although it probably felt like longer, he was estimated to have been in the whale’s mouth for between 30 and 40 seconds.
After some treatment, Michael was released from Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Now, we promised you a video of what it would look like, and YouTuber Zack D. Films is back again with another accurate, yet terrifying, simulation.
After taking a look into Michael’s incident, experts reckon that the only reason he survived is because humpbacks, generally, are not violent – Meaning if he was swallowed by a shark – it would have been curtains.Play
Jooke Robbins, the director of Humpback Whale Studies at the Center Coastal Studies, told Cape Cod News: “Based on what was described, this would have to be a mistake and an accident on the part of the humpback.
“It is not something I have heard happening before. So many things would have had to happen to end up in the path of a feeding whale.”
Charles ‘Stormy’ Mayo, a senior scientist and whale expert at the Center for Coastal Studies, agreed: “People direct dive on them (humpbacks) in the tropics, not here.
“In those places I’m not aware of a single incident of people having problems with them. Michael (Packard) is a smart guy and an exceptional diver.
“For that to happen to him, you can be sure he did everything he was supposed to do.”Featured Image Credit: YouTube/Zackdfilms / Inside Edition

Man ‘swallowed’ by humpback whale before being spat back out feared he’d be eaten
A humpback whale swallowed Michael Packard before it let him go free once more
A man who was swallowed whole by a humpback whale remembers thinking he’d be eaten by the animal and that he’d never get out.
Back in 2021, lobster diver Michael Packard was off the Massachusetts coast when he became the morsel for a massive whale.

He was a few metres off the bottom of the sea floor and ready to start looking for lobsters when a humpback whale saw him and decided to swallow Michael whole.
“All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black,” he said of the surprise ordeal, which left him wondering if he’d been eaten by a shark before realising it must have been a whale.
“I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth.”
Once he could tell there were no teeth about to shred him he realised it must have been a whale and not a shark, but he couldn’t see any light at all.
WBZ-TV News
The lobster diver thought there was ‘no way I’m getting out of here’ and was convinced he was ‘dead’.
Wearing his scuba gear, Michael struggled inside the mouth of the whale for about half a minute before he was ejected back out into the light, as the whale had swum to the sea’s surface and spat him out.
A nearby fishing boat spotted Michael ‘flying out of the water’ before they picked him up.
Despite surviving being swallowed whole by a whale he was in a lot of pain and rushed to Cape Cod hospital, though thankfully nothing was broken and he was able to head home the same day.

Despite a few bruises on his legs he was largely alright, and told his fishing partner Josiah Mayo he was afraid that it could have eaten him, saying: “I was inside it. I was inside its mouth. It tried to eat me.”
Mayo told the Washington Post he liked to think that the whale didn’t really know what it was doing when it swallowed Michael whole.
He said: “This was a humpback whale. It was a relief because it wasn’t a shark, which meant Michael would be all done at that point.
“It took [Michael] from behind and it seemed like it fully enveloped him immediately.
“That’s kind of remarkable and so we can only imagine the whale was probably feeding.”Featured Image Credit: Packard family / Getty Stock Photo

Man who tried to get eaten alive by snake recalls moment he was ‘inches away from ribcage exploding’
Paul Rosolie is best known for going viral for trying to get eaten alive by a snake, but there’s a lot more behind the man
You may have seen a lot about this man recently, and it’s all to do with a clip that did the rounds back in 2014.
But here we are, 10 years later, still talking about the viral clip from an episode of Discovery Channel series Eaten Alive – in it, a man willingly chooses to be eaten alive by a snake.
Just minutes in, he calls it as part of his head begins to be consumed.
But why did he do it, and what were his intentions?
It was a crazy stunt that continues to do the rounds on social media today. (Discovery Channel)
Paul Rosolie was born in Brooklyn, New York – that’s right, right in the heart of the concrete jungle.
But the nature lover knew that the city life was never for him, mentioning the common conception of being ‘stuck in the Matrix’, being devoid of anything real as he felt trapped in the American city.
Since moving away from the Big Apple, Paul has spent almost 20 years working with indigenous people in the Amazon rainforest with one goal: “To protect the last truly wild places on the planet,” he begins to explain to LADbible.
When asked about what he does, he said that his life involves ‘spending most of the year asleep outdoors’, as he lives in deep parts of the remote Amazon rainforest with all types of wildlife and animals we can only imagine.
Currently in a mining town in Peru, he said that contracting companies from overseas are bulldozing into the rainforest, ‘ripping the guts out’ of the ‘last pristine places’ on Earth.
“I’ve had rare diseases that were cured in the Amazon by indigenous people”
When asked about what he enjoys most about what he does, he highlighted that he loves living in deep wilderness, before heaping praise on his friend, JJ.
“This guy, JJ, Julio Duran is the visionary indigenous conservationist that started all this. He’s the one that trained me. He’s my Peruvian Mr. Miyagi.
Paul owes everything he knows to his friend, JJ. (Paul Rosolie)
He also highlighted that there may be cures for diseases within the roots of these plants, saying he had illnesses ‘destroying’ his body that were only cured by the medicinal plants brought by the indigenous people.
Along with showering in a river, hunting fish for his meals, avoiding stingrays and piranhas, Paul says there are a number of things he enjoys about living in the wild.
“The truth is, we grew up as a species in nature and so when you return to nature, you tend to feel better,” he adds.
We also spoke to Paul about the viral video in question, which he insists is a tiny thing he has done in the grand scheme of everything he aims to achieve.
“I came inches away, moments away from having my ribcage explode”
When asked if he felt in danger or near death while filming, he answered: “On TV, no, because it was with the Discovery Channel.
“So, they had people around, they had an ambulance and doctors and we had plenty of people to stand by in case something happened,” he explained.
The wildlife expert also praised the team around him, including those that created the ‘very well made’ suit that protected him.
The 20ft long snake latched onto the daredevil’s head while wrapping itself around him (Discovery Channel)
It is known that Paul searched for the right anaconda to carry the stunt out with, but it turns out that during the search, he encountered a particularly aggressive 14-foot anaconda and found himself in a tricky situation.
“I did get wrapped with no suit, no protection,” he revealed.
Paul continued: “One time I got wrapped. And when you catch an anaconda you have to secure the head, so I had secured the head, and this thing’s head is big, it’s a huge reptile head with 200 teeth in it.”
He also explained the predator’s gruelling method of killing its prey: “They lock your wrists together first and then the next coil comes over your shoulder. So I actually almost had my shoulders touch.
“And I came inches away, moments away from having my ribcage explode. And JJ, my friend, saved my life,” the researcher said.
The nature expert has dealt with a number of predators in his time, but he insists that he’ll never mess with an anaconda again.(Paul Rosolie)
Paul highlighted that snakes can constrict jaguars, an animal much bigger than us, so it wouldn’t be a problem for them to ingest him.
“I couldn’t even call for help. It was terrifying.”
“They can take anything.
“Every time you exhale, you never get that space back, you never take that breath in again. So you exhale and the snake squeezes, and then when you try to breathe in, there’s nothing. And so I couldn’t even call for help. It was terrifying.”
We asked him if he would ever carry out a similar stunt again, to which he answered: “I mean, predators are very good at at predating, they’ve had millions of years to protect.”
Focusing specifically on the anaconda though, he said that if he were to catch a massive anaconda again today, he would either ‘make sure that I had a team with me or not catch it.’
Fair to say that he has learnt his lesson after two too-close-for-comfort encounters.
“When I was new to this, I would just run in and grab them and go, I’ll figure it out. You can’t just figure it out. They could kill you in 30 seconds, you could be dead,” Paul said.
Anacondas can weight well over 100kg according to the man himself, so it might be worth steering clear of the species, which he claimed he has also seen kill a wild boar in less than a minute.
Paul wants to save and preserve the Amazon rainforest. (Paul Rosolie)
We finally asked if he had one final message for the public, and Paul gave a powerful statement.
“Animals exist on Earth for their own reasons and we’re not the only species here. That’s a very important reality to understand.
“Indigenous people are fighting with their lives to protect the Amazon rainforest, because they understand what everyone else is forgotten that without ecosystems, if you can’t breathe the air and drink the water, nothing else you’re interested in is going to happen.”
He urged people to help him stop people from destroying these ecosystems, and all the unique species of trees and animals that have been there for thousands of years.
“That’s why I’m down here. That’s why I would do something as suicidal as even claimed to try and be eaten by an anaconda,” he concluded.

Death Row inmate had desperate final words before he was executed
He had some haunting last words
A death row inmate let out some desperate final words before his execution this week.
Ivan Cantu had been on death row for over 20 years for shooting and killing his cousin James Mosqueda and his partner Amy Kitchen in November 2000.

The 50-year-old has continually proclaimed his innocence, even managing to get celebrities such as Kim Kardashian to plead his case.
He was convicted of murder in 2001, as prosecutors argued that Mosqueda, who was an illegal drug dealer, was killed along with Kitchen, who was a nursing student, as Cantu broke into their home in an attempt to steal weed, cocaine and money from their home in Dallas, Texas.
However, Cantu said that a rival drug dealer was the real criminal, murdering his cousin in a fight over money.
His case had the backing of stars like actor Martin Sheen, politicians such as Rep Joaquin Castro and former US Housing Secretary Julian Castro, and religious leaders – who called on authorities to delay Cantu’s execution to allow time for new evidence to be examined. Ultimately, those requests were unsuccessful.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice
Prior to Cantu receiving the lethal injection on Wednesday 28 February in Huntsville, Texas, he took the opportunity to say his final words.
Speaking to friends and relatives, he said: “I want you to know that I never killed James and Amy, and if I did, if I knew who did, you would’ve been the first to know any information.
“If it does, if this is what it takes or have any reservations off in your mind, then so be it.” Cantu concluded.
Leading up to his execution, he claimed that his conviction was based on shaky evidence and false testimony.
Cantu had no witnesses of his own, according to a spokesperson, instead only having three journalists, Kitchen’s brother, sister-in-law and a family friend witness his death.
Holding his spiritual adviser’s hand while in the death chamber as she prayed for him.
He also reiterated that he was innocent, thanking his supporters and urging for it to be investigated further, stating ‘I don’t belong on this gurney’.

The sedative pentobarbital was released into his bloodstream, and Cantu began to snore and eventually gasp on his eight snore, stopping all movement and being pronounced dead at 6:47 pm.
Following the execution, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis spoke to CNN: “My hopeful prayer is for the victims’ families, friends, and loved ones to find a long-awaited sense of peace.”
Cantu is the first inmate to be executed in Texas so far in 2024, a day after the execution of serial killer Thomas Eugene Creech was halted after eight failed lethal injection attempts.
