Enjoy 99p Pints Across 750 Wetherspoons Pubs from Next Week

Tis the season to enjoy dirt cheap pints thanks to Spoons

We all know that the January sales are about the best place to find bargains, but what about looking to Wetherspoons instead of retail?

There is so much that January (a month that feels like it lasts for years) can help you with.

Not only is it a time where everyone collectively vows to be better people, but it’s also a time when things that you’d always wanted but couldn’t afford become suddenly very affordable.

That’s the same thing with what Wetherspoons is doing for those who can only afford a few pints at the best of times.

Instead of forking out a couple of quid for a refreshing beer, now, the cheapest pint you’ll be able to purchase will be 99p.

According to the chain, from 2 January to 16 January, 770 pubs will be taking part in a fantastic deal to wet your lips for two whole weeks.

With England and Wales taking part on those days and Scotland joining a day later, the UK is about to start this year off with a boozy bang.

Not only will it pertain to alcohol, but you’ll also be able to nab yourself some non-alcoholic and soft drinks too, so it’s cheaper to take your kids out for a few fruity pops.

Out of the 770 pubs in those locations, 750 of the pubs will be serving pints from between 99p and £1.49.

Then, for the hot drinks lovers, 660 of the chain locations will be offering its Lavazza coffee, tea and hot chocolate, as well as free refills, for £1.29.

What a good time to be within the vicinity of a Wetherspoons.

According to Tim Martin, the spoons founder and Chairman, as per MetroUK: “Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pubs too.

“The range of drinks and food on sale in the pubs is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes.”

He revealed that ‘this year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks’ and he reckons that ‘the January Sale will prove popular with our customers.’

Too right, Tim.

He added: “As always, staff at the pubs will serve customers responsibly.”

If they announce that its cocktail pitchers will be included in this price, I might camp there for the two weeks and enjoy the deal while it lasts.

Wetherspoons is selling Guinness for less than £3 from today

You’ll be able to enjoy a Guinness this St. Patrick’s Day at a cheaper price

St. Patrick’s Day weekend is finally here, and I don’t know about you but I fancy a Guinness.

A lot of people are going to be sinking the sweet nectar over the coming days, with a whopping 13 million pints of Guinness being sold on 17 March alone.

But with pints not as cheap as they use to be, a lot of us will be unable to sink many before noticing a hit on the bank account.

Thankfully, we have Wetherspoons in the UK – a boozer known for its cheap pints and grub.

Well, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, the pub chain is selling Irish favourites Guinness, Baby Guinness, Jameson and Budweiser at a discounted price.

Guinness has never tasted better at £2.99.

From Friday (15 March) to Sunday (17 March), these tipples will be sold at the steal price of £2.99, while the guest ale for the St. Paddy’s Day event, Lough Gill Andersons Irish Red Ale, will set punters back £1.99.

While we all know what we are going to get with Guinness on draught (please don’t mention what it tastes like in cans), the special ale of the weekend is a little less known.

Lough Gill Andersons Irish Red Ale is a ruby-red ale which Spoons describes as having a ‘light, fruity nose, smooth body and flavours of mild caramel and toasted malt’.

And one place you can try the ale and all the other Irish drinks at a discounted price this weekend is at Wetherspoons’ first holiday park pub at Haven.

The holiday company runs 38 holiday parks across the UK and Wetherspoons recently signed an ‘exclusive agreement’ with them to run pubs there.

Primrose Valley in Yorkshire became the first holiday park to get a Spoons earlier this month.

The first one to open has space for 250 people and has to fight for footfall with Slim Chickens, Papa Johns and Burger King.

You'll be able to enjoy a Guinness at the recently opened Haven Weatherspoons.

Haven

In a statement announcing the new partnership, Haven said: “The first Wetherspoon pub will open at Haven Primrose Valley Holiday Park in North Yorkshire, with the first pint to be pulled in March ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer.”

There are plans to open up more Wetherspoons pubs in more holiday parks, but further expansion plans are being kept under wraps for now.

As for this weekend’s Guinness, airport branch NEC Birmingham and Republic of Ireland pubs are excluded from the St. Paddy’s Day offer.Featured Image Credit: JD Wetherspoons/Artur Widak/NurPhoto via Getty Images

If you’re counting your pennies after Christmas but still fancy a few beers with your pals, Wetherspoons has got you covered in this cost of living crisis.

The UK pub chain are slashing its prices at more than 800 of its boozers in January, so Brits can keep that merry mood rolling and grab a pint for just £1.99.

But it’s not on for long – so make sure you clear your diaries between 2 January and 17 January if your local Spoons is in England or Wales, while those in Scotland can get the round in on the cheap between 3 January and 17 January.

Wetherspoons is following suit with the shops and is having a sale throughout the first month of 2024 – although you should double check what discounts you’re getting at your pub, as each venue prices their drinks differently.

The average sale prices across all Spoons establishments include a pint of Bud Light or Doom Bar for £1.99 and classic cocktails – such as espresso martinis, strawberry daiquiris and margaritas – for just £2.99.

A bottle of Beck’s Blue will only set you back £1.49, a Pepsi Max (14oz) will cost you £1.49 and their selection of hot beverages, Lavazza coffee, tea and hot chocolate which come with free refills, are just £1.29.

Certain spirits are also involved in the sale too, such as AU vodka and Sidemen XIX Vodka.

You can also enjoy a saving when you’re lining your stomach too, as Wetherspoons are treating customers to a small breakfast, brimming with bacon, sausage, fried egg, baked beans and toast, for just £1.99.

If you’re there a bit later in the day, you can also enjoy a selection of burgers for a reduced price, which falls to £4.99 with a soft drink and £6.46 with an alcoholic drink. A bloody bargain.

Secret behind why Wetherspoons is so cheap has been exposed

Secret behind why Wetherspoons is so cheap has been exposed

The ideal Spoons is cheap, cheerful and has an interesting carpet pattern

Joe Harker

Whenever you go into a Wetherspoons and marvel at the lower prices, you might wonder just how they do it.

Chances are their pints are going to be cheaper than the other pubs in the area, but as you quaff your beer the cogs in your brain might start turning towards the question of how.

Wetherspoons: How do they really do it documentary

One of the ‘urban myths’ around the pub chain which Wetherspoons strenuously denies is that they buy up massive amounts of booze which is about to hit the sell-by date on the cheap, and then flog the lot to their punters before anyone notices.

According to Wetherspoons, this is a ‘ludicrous fairytale’ and revealed the real reason behind their unbeatable prices.

They said it’s because they have longer opening hours and sign long-term contracts with suppliers for better deals.

However, the are other reasons for ‘Spoons pubs being cheaper than many of their competitors, as Channel 5 documentary Wetherspoons: How do they really do it? revealed.

If you're wondering how Wetherspoons can be cheaper than other pubs, there's a few reasons to explain it.

Nathan Stirk/Getty Images

One thing ‘Spoons has going for it is their pubs aren’t brewery owned, so they can shop around for better prices and aren’t tied to a limited pool of suppliers.

If you’re wondering why a particular brand of beer has vanished from your local ‘Spoons, then that might be the reason.

On top of that the documentary claimed there’s a rule that each pint pulled at the pumps needs to have five percent of head, and managers can test it by weighing the glass of beer.

Having another source of revenue through their food also helps, as does the speed provided by having Chef Mike in the kitchens, while Wetherspoons have taken a leaf out of the supermarket book and compares prices to local competitors.

If pubs in their area are charging low prices, then the nearby Spoons will try and drive their own prices down in response.

Got to get the right amount of head on this one.

Charlotte Tattersall/Getty Images

Despite this, there seems to be no immunity from the price rises which have plagued other pubs.

The pub chain said that as of the beginning of February, most prices would increase by 3.95 percent.

However, the cheap prices don’t apply to every ‘Spoons in the country as in some of them, the price of a pint has climbed close to £7 which for Brits is pretty much armageddon.

Fortunately, most of their pubs are much cheaper than the Moon Under Water in London’s Leicester Square, but the cost of a glass of that alcoholic amber nectar is climbing steadily upwards pretty much everywhere you look.

It might reach such a point that people stop playing the Wetherspoons game as it’s too pricey… but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.Featured Image Credit: Charlotte Tattersall/Nathan Stirk/Getty Images

Wetherspoons fans celebrate after seeing price of food and drink has been slashed

Prices are coming down, but only for a short time

It’s a good time to frequent your local Wetherspoons, and if you live anywhere in the UK it’s likely that you’re not all that far from a ‘Spoons anyway.

That’s because the popular pub chain has announced that it’s cutting down the prices on food and drink for the start of 2024, but the reduced prices will only be for a short while.

If you live in England or Wales then the price cut kicked in yesterday (2 January), while if you’re up in Scotland then today (3 January) is the day the price of a pint gets a bit cheaper.

Naturally this was met by plenty of celebration from Wetherspoons fans, who’ve said it’s ‘awesome’ that the pubs will be getting less expensive for a while.

One pub fan said the change meant it was ‘where prices should be’, while others were more interested in the price of food going down as well.

Prices are dropping for a couple of weeks in January at Wetherspoons.

It’s a welcome tonic to the rising prices in pubs, though they’re not all just whacking up prices for fun as many of the nation’s fine establishments have struggled with rising costs.

Some gloomy predictions reckon the price of a pint will hit £10 in some parts (London) of the UK in the next few years.

So with that in mind it’s no surprise that ‘Spoons fans who aren’t doing Dry January are welcoming the price drop from the pub chain.

As for what’s actually changing in Wetherspoons, the average price for a pint of Bud Light or Doom Bar is now £1.99, while a selection of cocktails like espresso martinis, strawberry daiquiris and margaritas will cost you just £2.99.

If you’re not wanting to quaff anything alcoholic and are feeling the chill this January then its coffee, tea and hot chocolate will come with free refills and cost £1.29.

"I guess we're not doing Dry January then?"

While nobody could accuse Wetherspoons of being a pillar of fine dining, it does do food and the prices for their dishes are also being cut for a while.

If you want their breakfast of bacon, sausage, fried egg, baked beans and toast then it’ll be just £1.99 for that plate.

Rocking up to ‘Spoons later on in the day and in the mood for a burger will set you back just £4.99 if you’re getting a soft drink and £6.46 if you want alcohol with it.

Wetherspoons boss Tim Martin said: “Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pubs too.

“The range of drinks and food on sale in the pubs is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks.”

It’s here for a good time, not for a long time as these special prices will only last until 17 January, so there’s only a couple of weeks to enjoy them.

For the next couple of weeks prices will be low at Wetherspoons.
