Child in serious condition after shooting near London dining spot, three injured

A child is in serious condition and three people are injured after a shooting near a restaurant in London.

The incident took place on Kingsland High Street in Hackney last night (29 May).

Three adults and a child were injured with the four of them taken to an east London hospital with ‘gunshot injuries’.

The Metropolitan Police have said the child is in a ‘serious condition’ and they are awaiting further details on the condition of the adults.

Police reported that they were called to the scene at around 9:20pm last night, with specialist firearms officers in attendance.

It added that no arrests have yet been made in relation to the incident.

Deputy assistant commissioner Matt Ward said: “We know Londoners will be shocked by what has taken place tonight. Our thoughts go to all those affected.

“Fast-moving enquiries are underway and we will update as soon as we can. If anyone has any information, please contact us.”

The road, filled with restaurants and a popular hub in East London, was flooded with emergency services as London Ambulance Service also attended.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.21pm on Wednesday 29 May to reports of a shooting on Kingsland High Street, Hackney.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, advanced paramedics, incident response officers and members of our tactical response unit.

“We also dispatched a trauma team from London Air Ambulance, which consisted of a doctor and a paramedic in a car.

“We treated three adults and one child at the scene before taking them all to a major trauma centre.”
