It feels like Elf has become one of those Christmas movies that’s on in the background from the first and last day of December.
Even though the 2003 film often isn’t watched all the way through, we can pretty much recall each scene, quote by quote.
From Peter Dinklage’s Miles Finch being called an ‘angry elf’ to Will Ferrell‘s iconic character Buddy the Elf, discovering the ‘best cup of coffee’, the flick has countless stand-out moments.

If you’ve still not seen it (really?), basically, Buddy is a human orphan who is raised by elves at the North Pole.
After discovering that he is not actually an elf, he travels to New York in search for his biological father, played by the late, great, James Caan.
The likes of Zooey Deschanel (Jovi), Daniel Tay (Michael), the late Bob Newhart (Papa Elf) and Mary Steenburgen (Emily) all feature, as director Jon Favreau plays Dr. Leonardo.
Now, even though you may consider yourself to be a bit of an elfpert (sorry that didn’t work), you might be surprised after taking a look at a deleted scene from the movie.
Viewers can’t get over the deleted scene (New Line Cinema)
The unused footage shows the loveable giant taking part in an ice hockey game, alongside his pint-sized peers.
Buddy is initially stuck watching his team get ‘walloped’ from the sidelines, until he is given the green light to join in.
“Buddy, get in there and do your thing,” one encouraging elf says.
You don’t have to tell him twice – and the human skids onto the rink to rescue the seemingly doomed game.
Using his size to his advantage, he barges into his tiny rivals and even sends one flying into the watching crowd.
Buddy then manages to win the game by shooting the puck directly at the goalie’s nether regions, seeing him collapse on top of the net.
The forgotten footage then shows the players in the locker room following the ice hockey showdown – and some of the elves have a few war wounds.
One with a shoulder injury sarcastically slaps Buddy with a towel and says: “Good game, Buddy. No sweat, it’s just a collar bone.”

The deleted scene then shows us more hilarious mishaps that the human experienced while trying to live alongside the elves.
This includes banging his head a ridiculous amount of times and accidentally tipping a Christmas tree onto an open fire.
Although a lot of people were appreciative of an extra dose of Elf in their lives, not everyone was impressed.
Some social media users said it was a good job the scene was cut, as they thought it didn’t fit the vibe of the rest of the film.
One said: “Glad it was, that was s**t!”
Another wrote: “I can see why it was cut. It shows him as a bit of a bully and its tone isn’t right with how he is for the rest of the film.”
A third added: “Why do they leave the best parts out?!”
Someone else said: “I wish they would’ve kept this in the film.”
And a fifth chimed in: “How has this only just come to my attention.”
It’s not clear exactly why the scene was cut, but judging by viewers’ reactions, it was probably for the best.

Will Ferrell revealed incredible amount of money he turned down to feature in an Elf sequel
We could have had Elf 2, but Will Ferrell wasn’t a fan
It’s almost Christmas and that means Elf is at the top of our watchlists for this month, but we could have had a sequel if the lead actor had accepted a massive payday.
That cotton-headed ninny-muggin.
If you’ve not been blessed enough to watch the 2003 film, it centred on Buddy (Ferrell), a human who was raised by elves at the North Pole.

When the (unsurprising) news reaches him that he’s not actually an elf, he travels to New York to find his biological dad, played by the late James Caan.
That’s when he encounters Zooey Deschanel (Jovie), and the pair have a few singing scenes and develop an unlikely romance.
The film also includes a fantastic list of celebrities such as the late Bob Newhart (Papa Elf), Mary Steenburgen (Emily) and Peter Dinklage (Miles Finch), as well as director Jon Favreau playing Dr. Leonardo.
Elf was super successful following its release and managed to gross a whopping $220 million (£178.9 million) at the box office against its $33 million (£26.8 million) production budget.
Elf is one of the most beloved Christmas flicks out there (Warner Bros.)
But even though fans would have been amazed to have been able to come back for round two, it seems not even a huge cheque could convince leading man/elf Ferrell to revive his iconic role for a sequel.
He’s obviously presented himself in numerous different roles since then, but fans will struggle to ever see him as anything but the excitable Buddy who just wants to spend his time asking people their favourite colour.
The film is so loved that many have called for a sequel over the years, and you might be either delighted or devastated to hear that one was actually written – just never made.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2021, Ferrell admitted he never expected Elf to be the hit that it was.
Ferrell wasn’t onboard for a sequel (Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images)
While dressed in his yellow tights, he recalled thinking ‘this could be the end’.
Remembering calls with his manager about test screenings, the actor said: “He was like, ‘Well, the family one went great, but we could really get eviscerated in this next one. I’m looking at a bunch of what look like USC frat boys about to go in’.”
The success of the film inspired the idea for a sequel, but Ferrell explained that he wouldn’t have been able to promote a follow-up without being honest about why he’d taken the job – which was, of course, a giant chunk of money.
Had Ferrell accepted the opportunity to return as Buddy, he would have walked away with an eye-watering $29 million (£23.6m) payday.
I know a lot of people who would put on an adult-sized elf outfit for a lot less, but Ferrell explained: “I would have had to promote the movie from an honest place, which would’ve been, like, ‘Oh no, it’s not good. I just couldn’t turn down that much money.’
“And I thought, ‘Can I actually say those words? I don’t think I can, so I guess I can’t do the movie’.”Featured Image Credit: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images/Warner Bros.

Viewers are now calling Elf the most ‘overrated Christmas movie of all time’
Elf turned 20 last month following its release in November, 2003
Don’t take this personally but if you don’t like Elf you are quite simply a cotton-headed ninny-muggins.
Sorry to be an ‘angry Elf’ but it’s hard to believe that many viewers are now calling the Will Ferrell led film the most ‘overrated Christmas movie of all time’.

Despite its solid 7.1 rating on IMDb, recent tweets suggest that some people are no longer buying into the hype.
One user wrote: “Elf is the most overrated movie of all time zzzz.”
A second added: “I kinda love the really warm Christmas movies like Muppets CC and Miracle on 34th (Elizabeth Perkins helps), but a Christmas never passes where I don’t find time for at least 3 viewings of Die Hard haha. I find Elf soooo overrated but I must be missing something lol.”
Another said: “Elf is the most overrated Christmas movie I’ve ever seen.”
While a fourth wrote: “Yearly reminder that Elf is one of the most wildly overrated movies of all time.”
Someone else added: “Unpopular opinion. Watched Elf last night, the whole way through.
“Not done that for a few years. My reaction? It’s overrated. It’s not a bad film, it just doesn’t come anywhere near Muppets, Home Alone or National Lampoon’s.
“And I love Will Ferrell so don’t throw that at me.”

Well, it goes without saying that these people ‘sit on a throne of lies!’ as Buddy the Elf remains one of the most legendary Xmas characters of all time.
In fact, Ferrell was once offered the chance to make a sequel – but he sadly turned it down.
Had the comedy actor accepted the opportunity to return as Buddy, he would have walked away with a cheque for $29 million (£23m).

Creepy theory about Buddy in Elf will stop parents letting children watch it
Fans of Elf have come up with a strange theory about Buddy, and you’ll never look at the character the same after reading it.
Fans of Elf have come up with a strange theory about Buddy, and you’ll never look at the character the same after reading it.
If you looked hard enough, you could probably find a conspiracy theory for every film that has ever been created.
But a conspiracy for Christmas films? Can we not just enjoy them in peace, please?!

Well, fans of the festive classic Elf, released in 2003 starring Will Ferrell as everyone’s favourite elf, have come up with a conspiracy about the much-loved character, and parents might want to keep the movie out of sight from their children after reading this one…
Despite Buddy being portrayed as the most innocent, playful and child-like human that could possibly exist, some people have come up with the conspiracy theory that the character is nothing but a creep.
It goes without saying that some things that Buddy does, he simply wouldn’t get away with without being his innocent elf-self, such as buying his dad lingerie and eating chewing gum off the side of the road.
Some people believe that after watching the film, Buddy is actually in reality just a pretty weird guy.
New Line Cinema
One scene in the film shows him following his love interest, Jovie, into the female shower block.
It’s portrayed as an accident in the film, but conspiracists believe he’s just creepy and did it on purpose. Let’s face it, if some random bloke followed you into a shower cubicle, you’d be pretty freaked out, right?
Fans have also said that he brutally injured children on the way home from his brother’s school.
In reality, it was just a snowball fight that got out of hand, albeit a pretty competitive one.
Another hot-take from the film was that his love for syrup was just an excuse to get drunk while on the job.
In one scene we can see Buddy with a friend he makes in the postal room, looking rather tipsy after just drinking all day instead of getting the job done.
New Line Cinema
And Elf isn’t the only Christmas film that conspiracists have attempted to make claims about.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas is also on the list, but this theory is actually a lot more wholesome.
Some fans suggested that Max the dog was actually a Christmas present by someone in Whoville.
It’s a theme throughout the movie that the Grinch steals Christmas presents, and so he found Max decided to keep him.
Please could we just leave our Christmas films alone people, there’s only one month of the year we can even enjoy them!Featured Image Credit: New Line Cinema

People only just realising you can ‘layer’ emojis on iPhone with hidden trick
People are only just finding out about a trick that allows you to stack emojis
People have just discovered a pretty cool iPhone feature which allows you to stack emojis on iMessage.
The feature means you can essentially create your own emoji art by layering different emojis on top of each other.
So, how is it done?
Did you know you can stack emojis? (Artur Debat/Getty Stock Image)
New York content creator @thatsannette, shared a video explaining how you can try it yourself.
Essentially, all you need to do is head onto iMessage and send your first emoji – this is the one that you want to layer other emojis on top of.
So ultimately, it’s kind of the base emoji.
Then, head back to your emoji library and choose which one you want to stack on top.
Select and drag it onto the message and add it on top of the base emoji. You can then repeat this as many times as you like with other emojis.
You can also use your fingers to make the emojis bigger or smaller.
And if you want to delete an emoji, that’s fine. Simply tap and hold the base emoji until the menu appears.
Select ‘sticker details’ then swipe left on the emoji you want to remove. Once confirmed, the emoji will be removed.
Pretty cool, huh?

“It’s so much fun to test your creativity out of this,” said @thatsannette.
“Did you guys know about this feature?”
While some people said the feature wasn’t working for them, others pointed out that users need to make sure that their iPhone is fully updated.
Last month, we told you how Apple may be about to add an iOS feature that Android implemented some time ago.
While it’s not confirmed, there are rumours that Apple is going to introduce a new feature.
It’s probably not the most exciting feature ever and for some, it’s probably not a crucial addition either.
But others reckon it’s a pretty important one to have.

It’s all to do with the Apple home screen. As Apple users will know, you can easily customise your home screen.
But if you add a new app, it automatically slots in next to the latest app that’s been added.
In other words, there are no gaps and creating a gap isn’t possible.
You can move them, organise them into folders, but you cannot leave a gap if you want to.
However, people are speculating that with the upcoming iOS 18 update, this is something you’ll finally be able to do.
We’ll have to wait to find out!
